Ruby May Young
Young, Ruby M. – 77, of Halfway River,
Cumberland County passed away Friday, April 25, 2003 at the QEII Health
Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Maccan, she was the daughter of Hilda M.
(Betts) Proctor, West Brook and the late John S. Proctor. She was a member
of the Royal True Blue Association, She enjoyed making crafts, doing
crossword puzzles, going to yard sales, playing computer games and darts.
She is survived by seven daughters, Hilda Rector (George Atkinson); Rona
Rector (Stan), Velda MacDonald, Dorothy Daborn (Stephen Henwood), Pamela
Young (Andy Allen), Loretta Atkinson (Frank), Carla Stephens (David); seven
sons, James Pettigrew (Sandy), Terry Pettigrew (Madeline), Eric Young, David
Young (Lois), Bernard Richards (Lorenda), Frederick Young (Pamela), Donald
Young (Monique); sisters, Betty Mosher (Gerald), Carol Stevens (Eddie); six
brothers, Leonard (Vera), Victor (Betty), John (Myrna), Earle (Carrie),
Ernest (Carol), Lloyd; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a
great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased
by her first husband, John Pettigrew; second husband, John Young; a sister,
Isabelle Duplisea. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Smith’s Funeral Home,
Parrsboro where funeral will be held 4 p.m. Monday, Rev. Clarence Clark
and Rev. Danny Compton officiating. Burial in the West Brook Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to a
charity of choice.
