1932 - 2004

McAndrew, Cyril A. - 72, of Parrsboro. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cyril McAndrew on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born July 7, 1932 in Co. Mayo, Ireland, he was the son of the late William and Mary McAndrew. He began his employment in Canada with the department of Indian Affairs as a teacher in northern Manitoba, and went on to be a member of the RCMP for thirty three years working in Nova Scotia, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. He worked with the Department of Fisheries in Parrsboro after his retirement from the RCMP. He was an avid gardener before and after retirement. Cyril's family was the centre of his life, and his grandchildren were a special source of pride for him. He is survived by his wife, the former Audrey Martin; daughters, Heather McAndrew, Halifax; Erin Twast (Randy), Timberlea; Carla Roberts (Michael), Calgary; Kimberley McAndrew, missing since 1989; Megan Adams (Dennis), Halifax; a son, James, Saint John; grandchildren, Caleb, Christianna, Kellen and Kenya Adams, Halifax; Brendan and Declan Roberts, Calgary; sisters, Kitty, Angela, Derry, all of New York; Benny, Theresa, Helena, all of Ireland; Bernie, England; brothers, Tom, Australia; Michael, New York. He was predeceased by sisters, Peggy, Allie; brothers, Jack, William, Patrick, James. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Brigid's Catholic Church, Parrsboro, Father Joe Christiansen officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Missing Children Society of Canada.
