Farrell, Charles T. - 90, of Main Street, Parrsboro passed away
Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Northumberland Hall, Amherst with his beloved wife
Lily by his side. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late James and Laura (Minahan)
Farrell. Charles attended St. Francis Xavier University graduating ‘magna cum
laude’ and was a veteran of World War II. Charles was a TV Technician and owned
Farrell’s Radio and Electric. He served on Parrsboro Town Council for many
years. He was a Ham Radio Operator, call sign VE1NM. He was a life member of the
Parrsboro Citizens’ Band, a member of the Parrsboro Golf Club, an avid curler
and pilot. He is survived by his wife, the former Lillian Corbett; several
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary; brothers, Joseph,
James, Arthur, Lawrence. Visitation 6-8 pm Sunday [May 2, 2010] at Smith’s
Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 11 am Monday [May 3, 2010] in St. Brigid’s
Catholic Church, Parrsboro, Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in the
church cemetery. Donations may be made to the Parrsboro Citizens’ Band (c/o P.O.
Box 712, Parrsboro, NS, B0M 1S0), St. Brigid’s Church, Parrsboro or to a charity
of choice.
