DAVIS, ELSIE L. – 93, of Lower Five Islands passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Lower Five Islands, she was a daughter of the late James and Ruth (Wood) Eagles. Elsie was a lifelong resident of Lower Five Islands. She was a member and trustee of the Lower Five Islands United Church, where for many years she served as a teacher and secretary for the Sunday School. She was also a member of I.O.G.T. and Eastern Star Lodge for many years. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Elsie also loved to dance. She is survived by sons, Glendon (Nancy), Lower Five Islands; Mark (Judy), Amherst; Lou (Margaret), Truro; Harold (Donna), London, Ont.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Roland V. Davis; sons, Berton and Perry; sisters, Blanche, Floretta, Inez, Hazel, Anne, Edith, Freeda, Edna, Evelyn; brothers, Hilbert, Harold, Clarence. Visitation 2-4, 6-8 p.m. Saturday [October 13, 2012] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday [October 14, 2012] at Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the Lower Five Islands Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Five Islands Cemetery or to a charity of choice.
