Clayton L. Graham
Graham, Clayton L. – 94, of Diligent River passed
away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at South Cumberland Community Care
Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Diligent River, he was a son of the late Albert and
Carrie (Jenks) Graham. Clayton was a veteran of World War II serving with the
RCAF and RAF as a fighter pilot in England, Italy and North Africa, retiring as
a flying officer. Following the war, he returned to his home in Diligent River
where he farmed most of his life. For Clayton, character was the sum total of
thoughts, words and deeds. Clayton was always a true gentleman, a man of high
Christian character whose word was his bond. He deeply loved his wife and
family. He was dearly loved in return and greatly respected by all who knew him.
Clayton will be missed beyond measure. He is survived by a daughter, Vivian
King, Edmonton, Alta.; a son, Robert Graham (Susan), Diligent River;
grandchildren, David King (Kim), Calgary, Alta.; Stefanie Cunha (Joao),
Edmonton, Alta.; Rodney Graham (Angela Swain), Lawrencetown; Deborah Surette
(Darren), Berwick; Jeffrey Graham (Kristen), Parrsboro; Andrew Graham (Amie),
Parrsboro; great grandchildren, Malcolm and Avery Surette; Sarah King; Debora,
Samuel and Isaiah Cunha; Summer Graham; Layla Graham; a sister, Lauretta
Barteaux, Middleton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife,
the former Irene Gasser; a brother, Harris. Visitation 1-2 p.m. on Saturday
[July 27, 2013] at the Diligent River Baptist Church, where funeral will follow
at 2 p.m., Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception
to follow at the Diligent River Community Centre. Memorial donations may be made
to the Diligent River Baptist Church or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Nova Scotia.
