Stella M. Power

Power, Stella M. – Age 89, of Great Village and formerly of Five Islands and Economy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Economy, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Nellie (Eagles) Power. Throughout her life, Stella enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, bingo, crib, volunteering and attending church. Above all, she loved spending time with her brothers and sisters (she was the oldest), her children, her grandchildren, and her cats. She is survived by daughters, Cathy Rephin (Jim), Cranbrook, B.C.; Nelda Chisholm, Economy; sons, Leslie Demings, Pugwash; Stephen McLean (Sherry), Moncton; sisters, Virginia Brodie (Don), Stewiacke; Susan McCarthy (Ronald), Lower Five Islands; Eva Lewis (Mike), Five Islands; brothers, James, Lower Five Islands; Roland (Ruth), Five Islands; Robert “Bobby”, Parrsboro; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Mildred and Marie; brothers, Burton and William “Billy”. A 'Celebration of Life' service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Memorial donations may be made to the Colchester Branch of the SPCA of Nova Scotia.
