Paul R. Spicer
SPICER, PAUL R. - 59, of West Advocate, Cumberland County died Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at home. Born in Ward's Brook, he was the son of the late Clayton and Nellie (Atkinson) Spicer. In his early years he worked as a cook, a fisherman and a truck driver. He later was employed as a janitor at the Advocate District School for many years. He was very active within his community. He was a past fire chief and was a deacon and lay preacher with the Advocate Baptist Church. He enjoyed writing poetry having published three books, Rustic Poems, Pastoral Poems and Rural Poems. He is survived by his companion, Elsie Stevens, Maccan; a daughter, Paula Frank and her husband, Jeffery, Nashville, Tenn.; sons, Kelly and his wife Terrie, Dartmouth; Travis and his companion, Shelley Wilson, Sarnia, Ont.; sisters, Mrs. Louise Bowditch, Briton, Ont.; Mrs. Loretta Lunn, Advocate Harbour; Carolyn Jenkins, Peticodiac, N.B.; brothers, Neville and his wife, Mary Lou, Kamloops, B.C.; Douglas and his wife, Ina, West Advocate; 5 grandchildren, Dylan, Baleigh, Rebecca, Brandon and Taylor. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia. Visitation today (Saturday) 7-9 p.m. at the Advocate Baptist Church where funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Jack Palmer officiating. Burial in the Advocate Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to the Advocate Baptist Church. |
