Allen, Russell S. – 77, of Lower Five Islands, Cumberland County passed away Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the Georges L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton. Born in Five Islands, he was the son of the late Vernon and Myrtle (MacAloney) Allen. He was a retired lumberman, clam fisherman and worked at the Bass River Chair Factory. He is survived by his wife, the former Jennie W. Davis; daughters, Nancy Davis (Glendon); Cheryl Hatfield (Todd); Eileen Allen (Laurie Perry), all of Five Islands; Diane Volans (Spencer), Upper Stewiacke; a son, Steven, Five Islands; sisters, Blanche Taylor, Ethel Taylor, both of Truro; grandchildren, Roxanne Lewis (Rick), Calgary; Penny Lewis (Darren) Five Islands; Craig and Terrance Hatfield, Five Islands; Gillian Davis, Lower Five Islands; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Marie; sisters, Doris, Elaine; brothers, Wayne, Bernard, Donald. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at Peniel United Church, Five Islands, Rev. Florence Antle-Brison and Rev. Robert Mack officiating. Burial in the church cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
