CANNING, Doane M. - 75, of Parrsboro, passed away
peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Herbert and Gwendolyn (Merriam)
Canning. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Mary Canning;
daughter, Helen Bowden (Richard), Port Greville; foster daughter, Gloria Martin,
Parrsboro; sons, Herbert (Agnes), Riverview; Doane (Shawna), Halifax; David
(Cindy), Halifax; William (Katie), Riverview; Gordon (Erin), Victoria, B.C.; 14
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by a sister, Esther; a brother, Frederick. Visitation 7-9 p.m.
Saturday in Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro where funeral service will be held 2
p.m. Sunday (April 8, 2007), Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in Parrsboro
United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the South
Cumberland Community Care Centre Foundation (Palliative Care), Parrsboro.
