Claude G. Soley
1934 - 2016

Soley, Claude G. – Age 81, of Five Islands passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 at
the Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Lower Economy, he was a son of the late
Claude Graham Soley, Sr. and Iona (Eagles) Soley-Lohnes. In his younger years,
he was a carpenter and labourer with Pelton’s Construction in Halifax. He later
worked for Maritime Tel & Tel for 30 years retiring in 1990. Following his
retirement, he was very active in his community, and enjoyed spending time with
his family and friends. He, along with his wife Doris, are well known for their
street art that has been so warmly received throughout the area. He is survived
by his wife of 60 years, the former Doris Durant; sons, Peter (Janet), Bible
Hill; Paul (Rhonda), Timberlea; sisters, Blanche Cleveland, Chemainus, B.C.;
Margaret Wight, Calgary, Alta.; Judy Clarke, Nanton, Alta.; granddaughter,
Taylor; grandsons, Jacob, Joseph and Michael; numerous nieces and nephews. He
was predeceased by a brother, David Dale. As well, he was predeceased by his
grandmother, Blanche Eagles, and special person, Addison “Tay” Taylor by whom he
was raised from a young age. Visitation 1-2 p.m. on Saturday [June 4, 2016]
at the Peniel United Church, Five Islands, where funeral service will follow at
2 p.m., Rev. Florence Antle-Brison officiating. Burial in the Five Islands
Baptist Cemetery. Reception to follow in the lower level of Peniel United
Church. Memorial donations to the Peniel United Cemetery Fund.
