Ruby K. Crossman
1929 - 2021

Crossman, Ruby K. – Age 92, of Middle Sackville, and
formerly of Ward’s Brook. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing
of Ruby K. Crossman on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Arborstone Enhanced Care
Nursing Home, Halifax. Born in Ward’s Brook, she was a daughter of the late
Perry and Marie (Allen) Dowe. Even with failing eyesight, Ruby continued to knit
and crochet items for other home residents, her friends and for the IWK
Children’s Hospital where she sent finger puppets. Knitting and gardening were
her two passions and she could name off any plant or flower she saw. Left to
mourn, a daughter, Geneva Williams (William), Ingonish; a son, Jeff Crossman
(Ann), Whites Lake; sisters, Leona Dowe, Ward’s Brook; Althea Legere (Pat),
Enfield; Faye George (Willie), Rockwood, Ont.; Helen George, Acton, Ont.;
brothers, Allan (Judy), Ward’s Brook; Kenny (Carol), Diligent River; numerous
grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Culton in 2018; a
son, Danny; sisters, Vivian Duguay and Marion Legere; brothers, Isaac, Sterling,
Wilson, Perry. In keeping with Ruby’s and Culton’s wishes, a combined
funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Smith’s
Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Pastor David Forbes officiating. Burial at Riverbank
Cemetery, Port Greville. In keeping with COVID-19 mandated restrictions, all
people attending the funeral or graveside services will be required to provide
‘Proof of Double Vaccination’ and valid ID in order to attend, and masks must be
worn at all times. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of
choice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ruby’s doctor, Dr.
Harris Crook's for continuing her patient care, even though he had retired.
