Stronge, Marilyn E. – Age 80, of Advocate Harbour passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at the Bayview Memorial Health Centre, Advocate Harbour surrounded by family. Born in Advocate Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Ethel (Wasson) Bennett, and her step-father, Reg Bennett. Marilyn graduated from Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing. She was an LPN for over 40 years at the Bayview Memorial Hospital, Advocate Harbour. She will be fondly remembered as fun-loving, vibrant spirited, compassionate and generous, with an infectious smile. She would often be found in the kitchen cooking and baking for family gatherings. She was ‘neighborhood-famous’ for her homemade bread and buns. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Dara Stronge. Together they had five children, Larry, Laurie (Terri), Lisa (Mike), Linda (Tim), Leanne (Keith). She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren, Joel, Joshua, Tyler, Jackie, Paige, Keagan; her great-grandchildren, Riley, Kayla, Sophie, Kloe, Tanner, Elliott, Jaxton, Carter, Charlotte. As well, she is survived by her sister, Joyce Newton (Alex); several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was fondly known as ‘Nina’ to many special children - Hayley, Brandon, Brooke, Brett and Devin. She will also be dearly missed by her loyal feline companion, Emma. In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
