Yorke, Lyle F. – Age 91, of Parrsboro passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Parrsboro, He was a son of the late Nelson and Vivian (McAloney) Yorke. Lyle operated Yorke Home Furnishing in Parrsboro for more than 50 years. He was most active serving his community with the Parrsboro & District Board of Trade and the Parrsboro Lions Club for many years. Lyle served on Parrsboro Town Council (three terms) and sat on numerous committees. Many will remember Lyle and his loyal canine companion, ‘Little Bit”. He is survived by a daughter, Debbie Yorke (Brent), Diligent River; a son, Tim Yorke (Kathryn), Parrsboro; step-daughter, Gayle Smith (Allie), Parrsboro; step-son, Robbie Smith (Dorothy), Lower Five Islands; grandchildren, Jennifer, Cody, Sarah, Amanda; step-grandchildren, Alison, Amy, Colin, Bethany; great-grandchildren, Gloria, Luca, Kayson, Brody; step-great grandchildren, Ryland, Grace, Roy, Hannah, Henry, Keith, Lachlan, Maggy, Christopher, Olivia; sister-in-law, Linda Yorke, Parrsboro; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Pat in 2014; a sister, Shirley; a brother, James. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024 at St. George’s Anglican Church, Parrsboro, Rev. Dr. Brian Spence officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Reception to follow.
